Jesus Christ is Lord
An Anglican Parish serving North Vancouver since 1945
OUR VISION is to be a caring and authentic worshipping community where lives are transformed by the good news of Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Values
AUTHENTICITY
We are a ‘come-as-you-are’ community. We believe that people from diverse walks of life can find real and lasting hope by encountering the God who created them and a community that cares.
ORTHODOXY
We hold to the Christian faith of the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church preserved in the Old and New Testament Scriptures and the three ancient creeds. We believe in the Trinity and the saving power of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Read more.
PARTICIPATION
We seek to equip people to serve with their gifts, to give, and to engage in the mission of God. This builds the church and extends the goodness of God into the world he loves.
3-STREAM ANGLICANISM
We treasure the rootedness and reverence of the sacramental tradition, the gospel-centred ethos of the evangelical tradition, and the dependency on the presence and power of the Holy Spirit of the charismatic tradition.
MISSIONAL MINISTRY
We actively participate in the mission of Jesus today. We seek to be outward-focused serving our community sacrificially and sharing the gospel in word and action.
DISCIPLESHIP
Discipleship is about growing in Christ. We do this through hearing the gospel preached, catechism classes, bible studies, and following the well-worn pathways of morning/evening prayer and weekly Communion.
Anglican Distinctives
St.Simon’s is an Anglican parish within the diocese of the Anglican Network in Canada (ANiC) and the province of the Anglican Church of North America (ACNA). We are part of a worldwide movement of Confessing Anglicans who believe the Jerusalem Declaration and hold to the historic Christian faith revealed in the Old and New Testament Scriptures and summarized in the three catholic creeds (Apostles, Nicene, and Athanasian). Find out more about our beliefs here.
Our worship is both ancient and modern, embracing the very best of the historic Christian tradition yet voiced in today’s language using the Book of Common Prayer. We believe that the Sacraments instituted by Jesus (Baptism and Holy Communion) are sure witnesses to the goodness of the gospel and effectual signs of grace for us today.
